Cleaning that leaves no media behind
Dry ice blasting fires solid carbon dioxide pellets at the surface in compressed air. The pellets lift the contamination and then turn straight to gas, so the only thing left to clear away afterwards is whatever came off the part.
How it differs from laser
Where dry ice tends to suit the job
- Larger areas where a laser pass would be slow
- Complex assemblies you would rather not strip down
- Situations where no spent media may be left on the floor or in the plant
- Softer contamination like grease, release agents and production residue
Where laser tends to suit it better
- Tight detail work around edges, welds and threads
- Rust and oxidation bonded hard to the metal
- Jobs that need a specific, repeatable surface finish
- Work with no compressed air or extraction available on site
What we can and cannot tell you yet
Our laser rate card is published on this site, application by application. Our dry ice work is quoted per job rather than off a published rate card, because the variables that drive it are different: air supply, access, pellet consumption and how much of the work needs containment.
So rather than publishing a number that would not survive contact with your site, we would rather look at the job. Send a photo or a description and we will tell you which of the two methods fits it, what it would involve, and what it would cost.
